Motion To: Whereas CHIN Radio is a significant contributor to the cultural and entertainment fabric of Ottawa, and seeks to locate in the premises located at 1391 Wellington Street West; and, Whereas a broadcasting studio is not at this time a permitted use at 1391 Wellington Street West; and Whereas CHIN does not propose to mount transmitting equipment to the building, nor significantly modify the building to carry out its operations; and, Whereas there is no specific definition in the zoning by-law of a “broadcasting studio” other than a provision that it is a radio or television study, nor differentiation in the by-law between broadcasting facilities requiring transmitting facilities versus those without; and Therefore, be it resolved that the Planning Committee direct staff to bring forward a report for a zoning amendment, with all requisite consultation, that would enable a broadcasting studio to be a permitted use at 1391 Wellington Street West pop-out |
