Motion To: WHEREAS Chair Deans has received an invitation to speak at the 22nd Congress for the New Urbanism to be held in Buffalo, New York from June 4-7, 2014; and WHEREAS the conference organizers have expressed the importance of Ottawa City Council’s approach to transit-oriented development to the content of their session on "The Transit Renaissance", which will discuss the idea that across North America, transit is being introduced or reintroduced as a transformative tool to redefine the way in which we move our people and connect our urbanism; and WHEREAS the cost of Chair Deans’ attendance at the conference is anticipated to be $1700.00, and the General Manager of Transit Services has indicated that his budget can accommodate this expenditure; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Transit Commission approve Chair Deans’ attendance at the 22nd Congress for the New Urbanism to be held in Buffalo, New York from June 4-7, 2014, and that the Chair report back to the Commission on the relevant portions pop-out |
